IDr. Ikpeazu has moved to secure his position by courting president-Elect Buhari and APC, seeking protection, it's been revealed that this move by Ikpeazu came, due to several court cases hanging on his head, and secondly to protect himself from those state governors who the President elect might consider incapable of being governors under his watch as president.

It will be recalled that Both Uche Ogah and Friday Nwosu of the PDP has gone to court to challenge the outcome of the PDP primaries held on 8th Dec. 2014 in Abia State, both men are seeking, among others reliefs; “A declaration that Ikpeazu’s Tax Clearance Certificate in Form IT 70, reference No. SPA/HQ/2437 with serial number 095827 of Abia State Board of Internal Revenue dated 04/07/2014, showing that Ikpeazu’s payment of his Income Tax for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013 is a forged certificate within the meaning of section 182(1) (j) of the Constitution as amended.

“A declaration that Ikpeazu is not qualified to become the Governor of Abia State and/or run the election on the grounds of his presentation of a forged certificate to the 2nd defendant to wit; affirmed Tax Clearance Certificate and/or other false documents and information in the affidavit of documents in his nomination form, contrary to the provisions of sections 182(1)(j) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended and 31(6) of the Electoral Act 2010! as amended respectively. Ikpeazu was declared winner of Abia state governor elect, after he polled 264,713 Votes to Defeat Alex Oti of APGA who polled 180,882 votes, the result however did not go down well with Dr.Alex Oti who has gone to the electoral tribuna to, pray the court to declare him the winner of the election held on APRIL 11th and 25th Respectively.

It will be recalled that Dr.Ikpeazu was an anointed candidate of the out-going governor Chief T.A Orji, a choice which did not go down well on majority of the PDP members, however checks showed that Chief T.A Orji did not release enough money for Ikpeazu, which led him to go around sourcing money from some PDP chieftains, secondly some more checks also revealed that it was mainly Ngwa People that campaigned for Ikpeazu
