The Peoples Democratic Party has lifted the suspension of former Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, announced the lifting of the suspension at the presidential rally of the party in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
Tukur was suspended in December 2014 for dragging the party before a court in his attempt to reclaim the chairmanship of the party, where he was forced to resign in January last year.
Elsewhere, The Ekiti State Police Command has confirm the release officials of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, that criticised President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally held last Saturday in Ado-Ekiti.
The student leaders were released on bail after spending three days in detention. They are the National Vice-President, External, NANS, Tosin Ogunkuade; a former Chairman, NANS Joint Campus Committee, Ekiti State, Oluwadamilare Bewaji, and Idowu Odebunmi.
The APC had maintained that the students were arrested on the order of Governor Ayodele Fayose for highlighting the challenges facing Nigerian students and saying the present efforts by the government were not capable of redressing the hardships faced by the students in accessing quality education.
But Fayose had indicated that those arrested were APC thugs caught with dangerous weapons and recruited by an APC member in the House of Representatives to terrorise supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Erijiyan and Ikogosi-Ekiti.
The Youth Wing of the APC had condemned the detention of the students, which it said violated their fundamental human rights.
