Honorable Oracle Nwala Esq.

The SDP candidate for Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Barr. Oracle Chukwudi Nwala, has described the burning of Isiala Ngwa South INEC office in Umuikaa, as an act of sabotage against Federal government’s determination to conduct free, fair and credible elections and an act wickedness against the people of Isiala Ngwa in particular and Nigerians in general.

The SDP candidate stated this when he visited the INEC office which was torched by unknown individuals. He said the devilish plot was to disenfranchise people whose PVCs were burnt and to strike fear into the heart of voters. He deplored the desperate antics of politicians who are afraid of the verdict of the masses in the forthcoming elections.

He implored the security agencies to get to the root of the arson and also called on community leaders to provide useful information that will lead to unmasking the perpetrators of the heinous crime. He further advised the community to be vigilant. He however praised the gallantry of the youths who trooped out en mass to contain the situation, which according to him was an indication that the youths are determined to ensure free and fair election.

The Traditional Ruler of the community, Eze Engr John Onwuasoanya, who was also on ground, described the act as horrible and reprehensible, advising political actors to eschew violence and allow the people decide those they want to the lead them.

A Youth Leader who craved anonymity, stated that the arson may not be unconnected to politicians who are angry that the INEC office has been moved from Omoba where they used for their underhand practices in the past.

Recall that the INEC office was formerly situated in the premises of Isiala Ngwa South council headquarters, Omoba, before it was moved to the recently renovated office at Umuikaa near the Navy Logistics and Finance Department
