The Senator representing Abia North Senatorial zone in the National Assembly, Mao Ohuabunwa, has berated former Abia governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, over utterances regarding the February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Kalu is the APC senatorial candidate for Abia North zone for this Saturday’s general elections.
Speaking with newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital, on Thursday, the federal lawmaker urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reassure Abia North Constituents of their readiness to conduct a free, fair and credible election come Saturday 23rd February 2019.
He said, “I wonder why someone will make such claims that INEC, DSS, Army and other security agents are in his pocket. Even going ahead to say that the upcoming election is an exercise in futility. Such statements should be investigated because we know the antecedent of the former Governor.
“You can all recall that in 2007 when Orji Uzor Kalu was Governor, Abians were still voting and results were declared. That is why his claims and threats should not be ignored.”
The Senator further claimed that while he has been going about the whole constituency, commissioning his projects and selling himself to the people, Kalu was relying on sharp practices.
The PDP chieftain, therefore, urged INEC to come out openly and caution the former governor if his claims are false and mere word of mouth.
