A former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Masters Energy Oil and Gas Company, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah has formally declared to contest the governorship seat of Abia State in the 2019 general elections.
He disclosed that he would be vying for the gubernatorial position under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing members and supporters of APC when he visited the State leadership of the party in Umuahia on Thursday, to intimate them of his decision to vie for the number one seat of Abia, Ogah said he was not joining the race to play politics but to make a difference.
The APC chieftain, who decried the developmental backwardness of Abia, pointed out that currently, the people needed vision-driven leaders to make the state a land of prosperity and progress.
His words, “I have come to serve, not to play politics. I have come to lead, not to rule. I’m in the race again for Abia government house to make a difference, not to make a point.
“Time like this calls for renewed hope and confidence in the robust sanctity and the legitimacy of our quest for the realization of our shared dreams of a brighter dawn of a beloved state.
“Today, Abia state is at a critical juncture of decision making on who will take over the mantle of leadership to liberate the state”.
He added that, “we look forward for a better days, there is a need for a compassionate and a vision-driven leader, that will stand up to inspire our people to make Abia the land of prosperity and progress that we all desire”.
He also stressed the need for all members of APC in the state to come together and shed their differences to enable them win.
“If we all can put ourselves together as one party, bury our differences, we will put Abia in a better history,” he added.
Responding, the chairman of APC in Abia state, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa assured the aspirants and members of the party of a level playing ground in the upcoming primaries.
He vowed that come 2019, APC will emerge victorious in various elective positions in the State.
