Two-time Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Abia Central Senatorial district, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu CON has declared to contest for that same seat she left in 2015. The Senator who declared today in her resident in Aba, made it known that she is on a restoration mission.
The declaration which was attended by APC Gubernatorial Aspirant, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike and so many other APC Aspirants/ party leaders, was an opportunity for Sen. Nwaogu to explain her reasons for wanting to go back to the senate.
The former senator explained that the senate is like a red wine, the older it gets, the better it becomes. She advised against sending a rookie to the senate to represent Abia Central as that will be a great disadvantage to the people.
“The dividends that will be accrued to Abia Central if an experienced legislator like me goes back to the senate will be 100 times more than what a first timer or a rookie will achieve. I am not going to the senate to sleep, I am going to bring to us dividends of democracy”
“If you give someone that does not have the capacity the ticket, the ticket will be meaningless, the ticket will become like Zimbabwean dollar.”
“I have the experience, network and capacity to win the election. I have done it three times and I will do it again in 2019 if you support me to get the ticket”
“In APC, we don’t have zoning because the party has not won an election in Abia State, so those saying it is their turn, it is untrue” she concluded.
APC gubernatorial aspirant Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike when speaking, supported Senator Nkechi Nwaogu’s position. He maintained that the senate is for experienced people and that the longer you are in legislation, the more capacity you build. Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, threw his weight behind Sen. Nwaogu’s aspiration.
