Ukwa Ngwa People Endorses Dr.Ikpeazu For Second Term

History was made on Friday, 2nd March as the people of Ukwa/Ngwa people of Abia State gathered "en mass" at Okpualangwa, the ancestral home of the Ngwa people to endorse their son, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for second term in office.

Presenting a communiqué after a motion of adopting the Governor as their sole governorship candidate for 2019 election was moved and seconded respectively by Senator Adolph Wabara and Chief Chuku Wachuku, Chief Chibuike Nwokeukwu (SAN), on behalf the people announced that the entire Ukwa/Ngwa adopts Dr. Ikpeazu as its consensus candidate. Also that no Ukwa/Ngwa indigene would present himself for governorship election or running mate to anybody in 2019, adding that any Ukwa/Ngwa indigene who does that would be excommunicated.

In his speech earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Elder (Dr.) Emma Adaelu said the essence of the Ukwa/Ngwa declaration was to endorse the Governor for second tenure having seen his achievements so far.

Speaking also, the convener of the 2nd Great Ukwa/Ngwa Declaration, Ochiagha Regan Ufomba recalled that the last declaration was done 15 years ago when they endorsed a former sitting Governor for a second tenure.

He stressed that the cap fits Governor Ikpeazu as he has performed creditably in the last two years of his administration.
Chief Ufomba disclosed that over one million well meaning Ukwa/Ngwa people have endorsed the Governor for the second term in office.

Responding, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu thanked his people for the confidence reposed on him and assured that he would not disappoint them.

The Governor also told his kinsmen that what they have seen so far in terms of achievements is not yet enough as he is more poised to take Abia to higher heights

The Abia chief executive enjoined them to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) so as to be eligible to decide what happens in the politics of 2019.

The event attracted who is who in Ukwa/Ngwa land including leading politicians, Traditional Rulers, youths, women groups among others.
