Man Arrested For Raping A 10yr Old In Umuahia


    

A man identified as Ebenezer Ibebgu has been arrested by the police in connection with child rape and molestation, Ebenezar who hails from Imo state but resides and does business in Okaiuga Nkwoegwu, Ohuhu, in Umuahia north LGA of Abia state is now in police net over allegations of pedophilia, rape and molestation of a ten year old girl child.

According to the victim, the incident first occurred about three weeks ago when she went to buy some food item from the culprit, the complainant alleged that Mr Ibebgu lured her into his store with yogurt drink and biscuits, beat her up with a cane and forcibly inserted his penis into her private part, The victim also claimed that subsequently after the first attack, Mr Ibebgu forced himself again on her on two other occasions.

The incident was first reported to Chief Sir Obi Aguocha, the President General of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Autonomous community who took up the matter and immediately brought the attention of the commissioner of police and the government house to the incident.

The commissioner of police Mr Anthony Ogbizi immediately ordered that medical checks be conducted on the victim by the police clinic in Umuahia where a canal defilement of the victim was established through medical reports.

Further investigations revealed that the Mr Ibegbu has been a serial rapist and pedophile and has been carrying out the wicked act of child rape on a lot of children aged between 5 to 10 within the community, and any girl child who refuses his lure will be physically assaulted to submission and raped by the culprit who is aged between 40 to 45 years and married with children.

Chief Aguocha, described Mr Ibebgu as a serial pedophile and child rapist with previous known antecedents in the community, whose crimes never saw the light of the day due to the poverty nature of the victims families, he said that most often the families of the victims has refused to bring such incidents to the attention of law enforcement agencies because of the shame and stigma often associated with such incidents in our society.

The President General who said that he has also taken the case to the International Federation of Women Lawyers in Nigeria assured the public and the victims family that he will ensure that justice is done so as to send signals to other people who may be in the sacrilegious act of child rape and molestation to desist because once they are caught he will ensure they will never go unpunished.
