Abia State Chief Judge Suspended And An Acting Chief Judge Sworn In

Abia State House of Assembly in an emergency sitting today suspended Abia State Chief Judge, Justice Theresa Uzokwe.

It was learnt that the suspended Chief Judge has for 6 months resisted the new Chief Registrar from assuming duties and this has breed bad blood within the system and other vices which prompted
Dr.ACB Agbazuere on behalf of Civil Society Group GLOBAL CENTRE FOR PEACE AND Justice to write a Petition to the Assembly via the office of the Speaker accusing the now Suspended Abia State Chief Judge of Misconduct,Abuse of Office and High handedness among others.

The House of Assembly resolved to Suspend the Chief Judge of Abia State pending the outcome of the Investigation of the accusations against her.

Following the suspension, Hon.Justice Obisike Orji has taken over as Acting Chief Judge and was sworn in today by Abia State Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu in accordance with the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria to avoid creating a vacuum in the Judicial arm.
