Enyimba Players Are Not Begging On The Street Over Wages

Enyimba FC have dismissed reports that their players are roaming the streets of Aba as a result of non-payment of their sign-on fees and match bonuses for last season.
Farriel Allaputa, the club's Head of Media, told Goal that there was no truth in the claim, labeling it as entirely false.

He said: "The players are indeed being owed some match bonuses and some part of their sign-on fees but the notion that they are going hungry and idling on the streets of Aba is false because just last week, their November salaries were paid.

"There is not one player who can say that a month of his salary, from January up until now hasn't been paid. The Abia State Government has made a firm commitment that these bonuses and sign-on fees will be paid, and the Chairman, Felix Anyansi Agwu has expressed this to the players, so it's only a matter of time and they will receive their money."

He revealed that there were plans for the State Governor, Chief T A Orji to host the players at the government house Umuahia following their Federation Cup triumph and said these were all signs that the Abia State Government has the players in their thoughts.

"We as a club take the well being of our players very seriously and are doing everything we can to address their concerns, but it is important that no one takes advantage of the situation to make false claims in order to gain sympathy," Allaputa told Said.
